A Pictoral Gift for My Daughter

Hurricane Danielle Photgraphed from the International Space Station

In late August of this year, a massive hurricane formed out in the Atlantic Ocean.  This particular one was special to me because it also bore my daughter’s name.It stayed out in the ocean and did not threaten anyone on dry land, but as I was cruising the net today, I was struck by the beauty of this picture.

This particular shot was taken by astronaut Douglas H. Wheelock aboard the international space station.  The perspective of this shot reflects the raw size of this storm as well as its innate beauty.

As an amateur photographer myself, I truly envy Mr. Wheelock’s vantage point in space.  He has shot a lot of pics and he posts them on twitter HERE.  If you like shots like this one you will enjoy his picture blog.
