For My Son

This incredible picture from the National Geographic collection captures the eruption last year of the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajökull (please don’t ask me to pronounce that).

I dedicate this picture to my son for a couple of reasons.  First he has become greatly interested in volcanoes.  His five-year-old intellect is always probing me for information on them.  He is also intensely interested in weather.  As this amazing photograph shows, the violent eruption of a volcano can also produce some violent weather as well.

I am certain that when he sees this post, he will no doubt be full of even more questions.  I guess I better study up on this in preparation.

That is an amazing picture! And you’re right, you need to study up and be ready with some answers – at 5 they are not satisfied with anything halfway or indeterminate.

    Wow…I’m breathless and speechless.
