Weekly Photo Challenge: Light

This one gave me some trouble.  Not for the reason you might think though.  I had a lot of different ones to choose from.  It was a challenge to decide which way to go with this, so I chose two scenes that featured a couple of favorite pictures from both day and night.

This is just a typical end of the day off the deck at my home.  This particular sunset was fun to get because the sun was especially golden on this evening, and the clouds were about as perfect as they could be.

The dark of night doesn’t mean you can’t find light.  I took this shot this past summer too.  It was my first attempt to take some longer exposure pictures.  I didn’t really know what I had in this shot until I got back home, but I was just entranced with it.  I hope you enjoy it too.

Thanks…it is definitely a personal favorite of mine. We live on top of a hill overlooking a pretty large valley so scenes like these are pretty common.

One of the best parts about taking pictures is when you think you have a pretty decent one only to get home and discovery how truly great it is. 🙂 I really like the night picture with the green lights and soft glow over the trees.

I completely agree…even in the digital age you can still discover magic when you get the camera home. I like all the layers of light in the night picture too. I always discover something new in that one.

I LOVE night-time shots! My first attempt at something like that was from the top of Mt. St. Jacinto overlooking Palm Springs, Calif. I set my little point and shoot on a railing and extended the shutter settings. It wasn’t great, but it was fun! You did good with this one. I love that there are stars in it.
