Irene began her assault of the U.S. east coast just after dawn this morning. The net is filled with traffic about the storm. All of the major news outlets are abuzz with activity about the big slow mover. Her winds aren’t terribly powerful (as hurricanes go anyway), but she is bringing lots of problems with her landfall.
This picture was taken from the International Space Station just a day ago. As you can see it has a very defined eye, and it is massive is size. It almost looks peaceful, when viewed from above. There will be no peace for those underneath this storm for days and weeks to come.
